Facilitating Effective Meetings is a 2-hour workshop designed to enhance participants’ ability to lead a group through an agenda to achieve meeting objectives. The workshop involves a combination of demonstration, reflection, discussion, learning, and practical experience. The workshop is suitable for anyone who is required to facilitate a meeting in a professional setting, be it a regular internal meeting or a one-off meeting with an external group.
Intended Outcomes:By the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:
• Identify the aspects of effective and ineffective meetings
• Explain the roles and goals of a meeting facilitator
• Articulate possible meeting objectives
• Craft an effective meeting agenda
• Identify common techniques for engaging meeting participants, before, during, and after the meeting
• Identify core facilitation skills as well as their individual strengths and weaknesses
• Explain different modes or styles of meeting participation
• Explain basic techniques for preventing and mitigating conflict
